Providence Cyclocross Festival

Providence Cyclocross Festival

5 & 6 October 2013

The second stop on the series, Providence is considered to be one of the world’s finest cyclocross venues. Held each year over the Columbus Day weekend, this two-day race is positioned in Roger Williams Park. Providence’s award winning urban park is just off Interstate 95 and within three miles of downtown hotels, restaurants, colleges, train stations, and the T. F. Green International Airport.

Featuring a large exposition organized by Interbike, one of the strongest events in the Nielsen Business Group family of trade shows, Providence draws thousands of spectators. Providence also hosts Veloswap and the New England Bike Summit.

But the true attraction of Providence is the course designed by Tom Stevens. First used as a national championship course in 2005, Providence has a unique roller coaster terrain making it a favorite amongst racers of all caliber. Centered around the park’s “Temple to Music,” this venue was sculpted in the 19th Century to serve as a natural amphitheater. This has created a cyclocross stadium rarely found anywhere in the world.
